Austin— Gold gave up a portion of yesterdays gains in the New York trading session, dropping 1%, while silver, platinum, and palladium were virtually unchanged from yesterday's New York closes. The U.S dollar index has gained modestly in the last two trading sessions, up 74 basis points, helping to pressure gold in relatively quiet trading.
At the New York close December gold slipped 1%, closing the New York session at $1,320.50, down $13.70. September silver, which traded as high as $21.75, closed the New York session at $21.34, matching yesterdays close. October platinum gained $1.00 closing at $1,499.70. September palladium gained $1.30, closing the New York session at $738.90
